Atishi to take oath as Delhi Chief Minister on Saturday: AAP

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Chief Minister-designate Atishi will take the oath of office on Saturday, September 21, the party said on Thursday.
Initially, the AAP announced that Atishi would take the oath during a special Assembly session on September 26-27, but it later accepted September 21 as the swearing-in date following a proposal by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor.
According to sources, AAP had initially planned that only Atishi would be sworn in, but it was later decided that her council of ministers would also take the oath.
AAP leaders Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Imran Hussain, who were ministers in the previous Arvind Kejriwal government, will be retained and two party MLAs will also be inducted into the new Cabinet, sources added.
Atishi Marlena, the lone woman minister in the Delhi Cabinet, was unanimously selected for the Delhi Chief Minister’s post by the ruling AAP legislators on Tuesday, September 17.
The Kalkaji MLA, who holds the maximum portfolios in the AAP government, will take over from party chief Arvind Kejriwal with just months left for the Delhi Assembly election.
Several names were proposed to lead the Delhi government after Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation following his bail by the Supreme Court in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam.
Atishi, however, was the frontrunner for the top job as she had assumed a central role in the party after the arrest of Kejriwal and his former deputy Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case.
