    Description

    I have owned and collected many buckles, but this is the first NIRA (National Interccollegiate Rodeo Assoc.) national championship buckle I have seen.  It was presented to the 1973 champion calf roper.  You can google the NIRA and see all of their past winners.  The winner of this buckle was Tom Ferguson.  He went on to winner 9 PRCA world championships.  1973 was his last year of college and I believe he made the NFR that year and won  a world championship in 1974.  I have a signe document where I purchased this buckle from him several years ago.  3 7/8"x3", fits a 1 1/2" belt.  Marked SILVER HORSE WOODLAND, CALIF. STERLING 10K.  Buckle in very good condition.  Not many opportunities to purchase a NIRA buckle, expecially one won by a hall of famer.
