Description
This is a mixed lot of one pair of soft velvet booties and two pairs of white baby socks, dating to 1972.BOOTIES: The booties are a pink velvet or perhaps velour, which has either a peachy tone to the pink or some fading from age. The top knitted cuffed sock is attached, and on one pair has some beige color from aging on the raised areas, not very noticeable but they are there and you can see them in the photo. The edges of the knitted sock part differ between the two booties, one has a nice finished tucked-in edge while the other looks looser, I think this must be a manufacturing issue.
The white trim is satin or a satin-type fabric, and there are white pom-poms on the tops of the feet. The bottoms of the booties have a little discoloration from age, as it's mainly where the booties have been folded for all these years. The booties measure 3 1/2 inches from toe to heel.
SOCKS: The two pairs of socks are both still very white and in nice condition. The pair with lace around the edges are Little Darlings brand, with a raised white pattern of some sort on the cuff, perhaps flowers. The crew-style pair are unbranded and have a scallop edge on the top of the cuff.
These all date to 1972, they were mine and I was told they were purchased for baby portraits, but they never used them. They all appear to be about the same size, and the one pair of Little Darlings brand socks says "Layette 3-4," and based on when they were purchased I believe them to fit babies 3-4 months old.
No damage other than the discoloration I mentioned and which is seen in the photos.
