    Description

    The Morpho Butterfly of South America has wings of the most beautiful blue imaginable.  Jewelry makers captured this color by placing sections of the wing under glass.  This technique was popular from the 1920's thru the 1960's.  The pair of earrings I am offering here uses that technique coupled with a tropical scene reverse painted on a glass cabochon.  The gorgeous color blue is protected by the glass and creates a delightful earring.  This earring measures 1/2" in diameter and the pair is in overall excellent vintage condition.
