Vintage Unmounted Opaline Glass Cameo Mounted on Black Glass or Stone c. 1940

Description

This beautiful unmounted opaline glass bust depicts a young girl in a classical pose with banded hair.  It is mounted on what is either a black glass or black stone oval backing.  There is a bit of what might have been adhesive on its reverse side suggesting it might have been a pendant for a necklace.  Initially I thought It was carved mother of pearl but close examination makes me believe it is opaline glass. I think it is cast rather than carved.  The backing is 15/16" x 3/4".  It has no damage.
