    Description

    FANTASTIC TRUE VINTAGE CA. 1940’S WESTERN AMERICAN STERLING SILVER UNBRANDED HIGHLY ENGRAVED BELT BUCKLE—
    Our best guess is that this unbranded old western sterling silver buckle could be a very early Keyston issue, as it is in their style and design. It is hallmarked “PAT. APPL’D FOR, and STERLING”. We also believe that the raised horse & rider image could be gold filled or gold because it shows almost no tarnish, however, we have not tested the metal, so we are not certain about this either. In any case, the extremely highly detailed hand engraving, the classic design, and the wonderful true vintage and naturally aged patina on this antique buckle make it a standout, regardless of exact origin. It is moderately sized, measuring 2” x 1 1/2” and fitting belt straps up to 1 1/4” wide. The total weight on our scale is 50 grams or 1.7 ounces.
